FIND AND RECONNECT WITH LOVED ONES

The American Red Cross may be able to help you find and reconnect with loved ones around the world after natural disasters, war, civil unrest or other international catastrophes. Our tracing volunteers work with other national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies worldwide to help reunite families.

The Red Cross helps when:

  • Families have been separated internationally by armed conflict, natural disasters or other humanitarian emergencies.
  • As much as possible, families should have tried normal channels of communication before requesting Red Cross tracing services.
  • The family member making the inquiry provides essential information on the sought person.
  • The family member making the inquiry is a close family relative, and is able to provide enough information to enable our volunteers to conduct a search.

Some tracing inquiries take several months to resolve, while others may take several years. Some inquiries may never be successfully answered.
